Atlantic Brant are the smallest goose of the goose family, they are also known as sea geese. They are about 3.5 pounds in weight. Brant offer fantastic shooting on the coastal Atlantic Flyway, but if one was to choose a place to hunt these majestic birds it would certainly be New Jersey! New Jersey winters over 125k brant each year; more than 10 times more than any other state on the Atlantic Flyway. Brant are extremely exciting to hunt because they decoy readily a definite must hunt bird for the taxidermy collector or youth hunter, they rarely disappoint! The shallow estuaries provide excellent feeding areas abundant with sea lettuce and eel grass a brant favorite. The protected bays also provide prime resting areas for those cold and blustery days. We hunt brant over decoys and custom-made V-boards. Brant are normally taken over decoys feet down and committed; this is why brant shooting is so much fun!
